Strain
Drive against the grain
I knew
I'd screw it up again
Maybe too soon to ascertain
I'm off,
No need to explain
I'm not the call you're waiting for
But I'll always crawl to come back for more.
I'm so well-behaved and benign
It's not hard to keep me in line
I go for the play when it's going my way
Which is rarely and hey, that's just fine.
But patience is not the best trait
You don't swing, you don't leave home plate
But nothing's designed keeping kindness in mind
So I kind of don't mind all the wait
And it's not killing time that I hate
Let me explain
This bottle's been my bane
I swore
I'd pour down the drain
I've always said,
No one really likes champagne
I could have bought wine,
But I'd rather complain.
We're Dixie Cups, we graze the spout,
A couple sips then throw us out
I'm so well-behaved and benign
It's not hard to keep me in line
I go for the play when it's going my way
Which is rarely and hey, that's just fine
You can't count the world's absentees
The faceless don't grace the marquees
And maybe it's fun to pub crawl on the sun
But it's also 10,000 degrees
And they say it's the same old disease
It's just a new strain
Drive against the grain
I knew I'd screw it up again
Maybe too soon to ascertain
I'm off,
No need to explain
I'm not the call you're waiting for
But I'll always crawl to come back for more
